Carving Pumpkins

For FHE tonight we first raked leaves!! (seven bag fulls) and then carved pumpkins. I think Mark just wanted to "get his done," so that he could watch football. But the competetive side in me had to show him up! :) Pictures don't do it justice, so I added a little video.

Sad I realized, after I uploaded pictures, that I didn't take a close up of Mark's pumpkin...Sorry Mark!

Halloween Party

So I guess I should've waited to post so I could put all that we did today on one post, but oh well. After the zoo (which is posted just after this one) we went to a halloween party. (I know, I got a little carried away on the costume) I seriously haven't dressed up in five or so years. So yeah, it was actually fun. We had a great time (minus mark, which wasn't so fun) We had a cake walk, painted pumpkins, ate, and socialized. Fun neighborhood!

BOO at the Zoo

This morning we got up and went to Hogle Zoo to trick or treat. It started at 9 a.m. and I was there at 8:57, and almost all of the parking spots were taken! It was seriously crazy. We did it right because we just zoomed through the zoo to get candy, but on our way out there were lines that would take 10 minutes to get through, just for a tootsie pop! Yeah, there is no way I would wait in line for that. Porter had fun, and he even stopped to look at the animals, which were out and about today! Little Claire never gets the spotlight (or pictures) but she was there, just sitting in the stroller. I can hardly wait until she's a princess or fairy, or something really girly next year!

Running for more candy!

ARRRRRRRRRRRR!

The leopard was pacing back and forth. It was pretty cool.

FIRE...

So Many have wondered how my family is doing in San Diego. And if you've watched the news, you know it's not good. The whole state seems to be on fire. When my mom called us on Monday to tell us that they were going to be evacuated, Porter and I said a prayer asking to save her house from the fire. All day Porter would say "mommy let's go to California help Grandma Diane. Grandma Diane scared of the fire." He was so concerned and still lets me know (two days later) that "grandma Diane scared for the fires." I wish I had that part on tape, but I did ask him some questions that night before putting him to bed...
(and by the way, my sister is now allowed back to their home, and I guess I'll forgive my parents for staying in their home, even though there was a mandatory evacuation for them too! I'm so grateful that they were safe! I cannot believe that there were 1800 homes lost (and I'm sure the number will just rise!) So sad!)

Leaf Raking

Porter was outside riding his bike, so I decided to make myself useful and rake the leaves! If you've ever been to our house, you would know that we have the two biggest trees in the neighborhood! (probably not, but it sure seems like it) One in the front and one in the back. We've already raked once this year, but they seem to keep falling. Growing up in San Diego sure didn't prepare me for raking leaves! Probably my least favorite thing about fall, but Porter sure had fun.

Porter attempting to make a "leaf angel." He had no clue what to do!

Claire didn't like being left in her carseat while mom and porter were playing in the leaves.

This is the tree in our front yard...and it looks like we'll be raking a whole lot more!! Does anyone want to help?? We pay pretty well! :)

Scarecrow Festival

Today we went to the scarecrow festival down at Thanksgiving Point. Yes we went there twice this week, but for two different events. This time of year there are so many fun things to do. Too bad the weather guys told me it would be in the 70's so I wore shorts and flip flops, and it was windy and on the verge of raining the whole time...good thing I brought jackets for Claire and Porter. Of course Porter had fun, and so did his mom! :) They had these huge slide-jumpy air things that all the kids loved. My personal favorite picture is of Lainey going down the slide. You have to stop and look closely at that one! So cute.

Claire Talking

Sorry for the Bug eyes..but this is cute Claire speaking. She is now three months old and is seriously the best baby and my little love!

Cornbelly's Corn Maze

What a fun time of year October is. There is so much to look forward to. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas..(not to mention a birthday in the mix :) ) I really do like Utah in the fall. And I wouldn't mind the winters if they were two months long, but here they seem to last eight!! No kidding, come may and it's still pretty cold. Anyway back to the fall...I love the changing colors of the leaves, and Halloween! Today Mark had the day off (columbus day???! who knew) anyway we went Thanksgiving Point where Cornbelly was putting on a corn maze! Acutally the corn maze wasn't very fun. It was pretty warm, and we were just walking around pretty much sweating. Porter kept saying "lets get outta here mommy!" (He did find a dollar for his missionary piggy bank so I guess it was all worth it!) But they did have all this other stuff for kiddies to do. He had a blast, and it was fun to be with Mark.

As if that wasn't enough...We then went to the Dinosaur Museum! Such a fun place for a two year old to explore.

And Claire looks more like...

ME...Finally scientific proof that I DID carry claire for nine months (actually longer..but whose counting?) and that my genes are more prevalent than Marks. Everyone says that she looks like a mini-mark (except for a few people), so I'm glad to have this as proof that she looks more like me by a whole 3 percent!

Porter and Lightning McQueen

I've been wondering how to put video on my blog...and I think I've figured it out. This is a couple of nights ago, Porter wouldn't just let me film Claire...He needed to be in on the action, so the video is really more of him and his Lightning McQueen (which he is obsessed with, and so am I, it's the cutest movie) slippers we had just bought at the store!

Now that I've figured out how to do a video (which takes a while to upload) my mom will be so happy!! Enjoy mom...
